The Federal Senate will hold a specific accreditation for the access of journalists, photographers, camera crews, and technicians to the National Congress Palace for the coverage of the presidential inauguration, which will take place on January 1st, 2023. In this regard, the rules contained in the Act of the Directing Committee No.11/2017 are to be followed. Interested news companies, agencies, and organizations must apply for the credentials until December 16, 2022.

ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING RULES IS RECOMMENDED:

  • Press credentials currently in effect will not be valid for the inauguration day.
  • For professionals already accredited in the Federal Senate, it is only necessary to send an official letter from the company requesting special accreditation to the e-mail address: imprensaposse2023@senado.leg.br. This document must contain the full name, ID number and the location intended for each of the professionals (see “Sectors for press coverage”).
  • Companies, agencies and journalism organizations whose professionals are not accredited in the Federal Senate or registered only in the Chamber of Deputies must forward, by means of an official letter, the accreditation forms for the company and for each professional, accompanied by all the supporting documents specified in the Act of the Directing Committee No.11/2017.
  • Besides accrediting the professionals who will cover the event, the TV and radio stations that intend to broadcast live must fill out a specific form and register the "outside broadcast trucks" or mobile units, if any, that will cover the event. This form must include the type of connection to be used: wired or wireless. The license plate, brand, color, and model of the vehicle must be informed. Likewise, the driver and other media crews that will be in the mobile unit must be registered. These professionals will be registered but will not have access to the National Congress building. If it is necessary for one of the media crews to have access to the inside of the building, their accreditation must be requested as described above.
  • Once filled out, the forms must be signed, scanned and sent together to the e-mail address: imprensaposse2023@senado.leg.br.
  • Credentials must be picked up between December 26th and 30th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Press Accreditation Sector, Annex 2 – Ground Floor. The withdrawal can be individual or joint. In this case, the person responsible for the retrieval must present an official letter from the company with the respective designation, which contains his/her name and identification number.
  • Use of the special credential for the inauguration is personal and non-transferable. In the event of cancellation, suspension, removal, or replacement of its holder, the requesting media outlet must inform the fact to the Press Accreditation Sector and return the credential. If the credential is lost, the fact must be immediately registered in a police report and communicated to the Federal Senate Police Department.
  • The specific accreditation for work at the Planalto Palace and Ministry of External Relations must be requested directly from those entities.
